Job Title: Associate Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Engineer to join our collaborative engineering culture in Orange and Rockland Engineering. As an Associate Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from small to large, and gain diverse experience in managing and designing electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical engineering work in the substation engineering discipline under the supervision of a Senior Engineer or Manager.
  • Design and apply utility-grade substation systems to transmission and substation systems.
  • Provide engineering support to various operations groups throughout the company.
  • Prepare sketches and drawings for design guides and construction drawings.
  • Perform preliminary engineering cost estimates for feasibility studies.
  • Review and analyze reports for substation projects to determine best practices and designs.
  • Perform ampacity calculations, substation grounding, battery sizing, lightning protection, and insulation coordination.
  • Support Engineer and Senior Engineers in major substation projects.
  • Participate in the company's Emergency Response Plan through a designated storm assignment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) and 2-3 years of total work experience, including one year of applicable engineering work.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of substation layout and major equipment, including breakers, switches, and substation steel.
  • Ability to interpret layout, one-line, and schematic drawings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical, technical, and computer skills.
  • Proficiency with IEEE/ANSI Standards and National Electrical Safety Code.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in NY, NJ, and PA, or in the process of qualifying for a license.
