Position Summary

The HR Generalist - Benefits Administration plays a crucial role in managing the daily operations of the company's benefits programs. This position is responsible for maintaining benefit documentation, disseminating information regarding benefits, and ensuring compliance with applicable Federal and State regulations. Additionally, this role provides strategic and hands-on support for various HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training, and compliance with employment laws.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage benefit documentation, communicate information regarding benefits, and ensure compliance with relevant Federal and State regulations.
  • Guide new hires through benefits information and enrollment procedures.
  • Conduct benefit orientations for new employees.
  • Collaborate with employees and vendors to address inquiries and resolve issues related to benefits.
  • Coordinate the recruitment process, including creating job advertisements, managing online postings, scheduling interviews, administering assessments, extending offers, and preparing onboarding paperwork.
  • Provide support for employee relations, assisting both employees and management in resolving issues.
  • Assist the HR Manager in maintaining the departmental budget.
  • Support the HR Manager in collaboration with external consultants for annual compensation studies.
  • Oversee and track leaves of absence.
  • Develop and deliver various HR training sessions, including open enrollment and performance evaluations.
  • Assist in the administration of 401k and benefits enrollment.
  • Generate HR reports as required.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of compliance and regulatory issues, industry trends, and best practices in HR.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives within the HR department.
  • Ensure confidentiality and accuracy in maintaining HR files.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in an HR Generalist role.
  • Comprehensive understanding of human resource policies and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of employment and labor laws.
  • Ability to solve problems with analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Team-oriented with a results-driven mindset.
  • Excellent time management skills, capable of meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with technology teams and the development of technology leaders.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in various software applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, HRIS).
  • Strong ethical standards and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage stress effectively.
  • Desire to learn and demonstrate initiative and curiosity.
  • Exceptional presentation skills and knowledge of employment laws such as ERISA, COBRA, ADA, and other relevant Federal and State regulations.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and foster a positive work environment.

Education and Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in an HR Generalist capacity.
  • 5+ years of experience in benefits administration.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent post-secondary education preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Certifications such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP are preferred.
  • Prior experience in the construction industry is advantageous.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
