At Prisma Health, we're committed to delivering exceptional patient care and inspiring health in our communities. As a Phlebotomy Tech, you'll play a vital role in our laboratory team, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients while collecting specimens and processing samples.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify patient and specimen identification, ensuring accurate labeling and processing of samples.
  • Input and assess information via hospital and laboratory computer systems, reviewing collection lists and taking appropriate action as needed.
  • Follow safety procedures, respond to safety violations, and report personal exposure to hazardous or infectious situations.
  • Process specimens for testing, including identifying, sorting, aliquoting, centrifuging, and labeling specimens appropriately.
  • Restock supplies, maintain a clean and orderly work area, and monitor expiration dates of supplies and reagents.
  • Communicate with patients, guests, and team members in a timely and courteous manner, using positive interpersonal skills.
  • Perform account registrations, order tests, and complete clerical duties, such as scanning patient data and tracking workload performance.
  • Perform Point of Care testing, if assigned, and notify caregivers of critical values.
  • Train new employees and students in procedure, technique, and theory, documenting proficiency on checklists.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent OR post-high school diploma/highest degree earned.
  • Three (3) month training in phlebotomy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous phlebotomy experience or training in formal programs that include phlebotomy.
