Rutgers University is seeking a skilled Habilitation Counselor to join our Child and Adolescent Services team within Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain a comprehensive referral process for children and families.
- Work with school administrators and staff to build capacity on the Responsive Referral Process.
- Engage with students and families through school and home visitations, and provide effective assessments and referrals to community-based agencies.
- Support children and families through community-based activities, including attending social and recreation functions.
- Provide individualized services to meet the unique needs of children and families.
- Make home visits to engage children and families in treatment.
- Coordinate appointments, including intakes, evaluations, and clinical appointments.
- Bachelor's Degree in a mental health field, plus one year of related experience working with children and families.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work with clients and staff individually and in groups.
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
This position requires occasional travel to community settings for outreaches, and moderate physical effort (lifting up to 25 pounds). The work environment is varied, including office and community settings, and may involve exposure to infectious and contagious diseases.
