Habilitation Counselor

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a highly skilled Habilitation Counselor to join our team at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care. As a Habilitation Counselor, you will play a critical role in providing assessments for the Children's Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (CMRSS) program in Middlesex County.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide crisis assessments for the CMRSS program, ensuring quality and quantity standards are met.
• Respond to incoming calls, assessing the service needs of clients or customers, and making referrals for time-limited stabilization services.
• Develop collaborative professional relationships with affiliated crisis stabilization providers.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation and utilization review.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in a behavioral health or related human services field and one year of related experience.
• Active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
• Must obtain the Children's System of Care (CSoC) Crisis Assessment Tool (CAT) certification within six months of employment and the Crisis Intervention Specialist (CIS) certification within eighteen months of employment.

Working Conditions:

The employee frequently spends time prolonged sitting, talking and listening in groups as well as on the telephone, walks, bends, stretches, and pulls. May have to work long hours, travel within the State, and lift up to 10 pounds. Must have the ability to drive and to respond to a family crisis in Middlesex County within one hour when on-call.
