Job Summary

The Defense Health Agency Civilian Corps is seeking a highly skilled Dental Hygienist to join our team. As a Dental Hygienist, you will be responsible for performing advanced oral prophylaxis on ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients, taking intra-oral impressions to prepare study models, and maintaining patient records.

Responsibilities
  • Perform complete and advanced oral prophylaxis on patients, including deep scaling and root planning.
  • Take intra-oral impressions to prepare study models and maintain patient records.
  • Examine patients' mouths, throats, and pharynx, referring abnormalities to dentists.
  • Plan and adapt instructions in home care techniques, tailoring them to oral hygiene needs and oral problems of individual patients.
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs and other organizations. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must be currently licensed to practice as a dental hygienist in a State or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia. Additionally, you must have radiology certification, which requires successful completion of an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in 42 CFR Part 75 and certification as a radiographer in your field.

This position requires one year of specialized experience, which includes performing advanced dental procedures on patients, completing oral examinations, and performing or interpreting routine x-rays to identify tooth structures, calculus, or abnormalities.
