Job Summary:

As a Dental Hygienist at the Defense Health Agency Civilian Corps, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and promoting oral health in our community.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough medical and dental history reviews to identify potential treatment needs.
• Examine patients' teeth and surrounding tissues for signs of plaque, periodontal disease, and oral cancer.
• Interpret routine x-rays to identify tooth structures, calculus, and abnormalities such as cavities and deep periodontal pockets.
• Plan and implement dental hygiene treatment plans, including assessments, oral hygiene care, and sequence of appointments.
• Perform complete oral prophylaxis on ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients, including deep subgingival scaling, root planing, and curettage under local anesthesia as directed by and under supervision of a dentist.
• Polish teeth and apply stannous fluoride, instructing patients in proper home care after treatment.

Requirements:

• Possess and maintain an American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate of training.
• Be certified as a radiographer and have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in 42 CFR Part.
• Meet the requirements for seasonal influenza immunization and undergo periodic Tuberculin tine and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) testing.
