Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at Dartmouth Health. As a key member of our Radiology department, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of ultrasound exams and procedures, utilizing advanced technical skills and knowledge of complex requests from specialized clinics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Select and operate ultrasonography equipment to perform examinations, evaluating accuracy and quality of scan results.
  • Review patient records for prior findings/test results to aid in determining exam completeness.
  • Select and record preliminary study results, preparing preliminary reports using department-specific structured reporting systems.
  • Communicate ultrasound findings to physicians for interpretation, consulting with radiologists as needed.
  • Perform transducer decontamination and maintain log entries, reporting any discrepancies to the Education Coordinator.
  • Participate in interventional procedures, modifying billing fields to reflect the exam being performed.
  • Instruct and oversee students, residents, and physician staff in unit operations.
  • Maintain ultrasonography equipment, recognizing malfunctions and ensuring quality control procedures are maintained.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited program for Diagnostic Medical Sonography and registry eligible.
  • Minimum one year of experience performing a wide range of general and specialty ultrasound exams.
  • Experience in high-risk OB, advanced abdominal imaging, complex infertility, and guided biopsies preferred.
  • Possesses a broad knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, pathology, and/or physiological data.
  • Competent in ultrasound reporting systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required.
  • Licensed by the Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy in the state of New Hampshire.
  • Must maintain active certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in specialty areas.
