About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our Radiology team at Dartmouth Health. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of ultrasound exams and procedures, utilizing advanced technical skills and knowledge of complex requests from specialized clinics.

Responsibilities
  • Select and operate ultrasonography equipment to perform examinations, evaluating accuracy and quality of scan results.
  • Review patient records for prior findings and test results to aid in determining exam completeness.
  • Select and record preliminary study results, preparing reports using our department-specific structured reporting system.
  • Communicate ultrasound findings to physicians for interpretation, consulting with radiologists as needed.
  • Perform transducer decontamination and maintain log entries, reporting discrepancies to the Education Coordinator.
  • Participate in interventional procedures, modifying billing fields to reflect exam performance.
  • Instruct and oversee students, residents, and physician staff in unit operations.
  • Maintain ultrasonography equipment, recognizing malfunctions and ensuring quality control procedures are maintained.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited program for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, with registry eligibility required.
  • Minimum one year of experience performing general and specialty ultrasound exams, with high-risk OB, advanced abdominal imaging, and guided biopsies preferred.
  • Active certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in specialty areas, with RDMS certification required within six months of employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate and licensure by the Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy in the state of New Hampshire required.
