ROLE: Endoscopy Technician/Perioperative Aide
LOCATION: Minneapolis, MN (Onsite)
WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, 40 hours per week, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day
POSITION SUMMARY: This role involves performing direct patient care responsibilities to promote optimal health outcomes and ensure a superior patient experience throughout the admission and discharge phases. The technician assists patients with their needs related to nutrition, mobility, dressing, and toileting before and after medical procedures. Under the supervision of the nursing staff, the technician carries out various delegated nursing support tasks, including the preparation of equipment and supplies, specimen collection, and the cleaning and sterilization of medical instruments and scopes, while meticulously documenting all cleaning and disinfection activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and reset rooms between cases, relocating equipment as necessary.
- Execute tasks as assigned by the Registered Nurse (RN).
- Assist in patient preparation for procedures, including taking vital signs and asking screening questions.
- Support patient positioning prior to procedures.
- Aid the healthcare provider during procedures by managing instruments such as forceps, snares, tomes, baskets, and balloons under their supervision.
- Gather required equipment and supplies before procedures commence.
- Employ proper aseptic techniques when handling sterile supplies.
- Reprocess and uphold equipment in accordance with infection control standards.
- Transport contaminated instruments to the sterile processing area and retrieve scopes for upcoming procedures.
- Exhibit the ability to deliver appropriate care/services, adapting methods to meet the needs of diverse patient populations.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or GED – mandatory
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a recognized hospital or surgical facility – mandatory
- BLS Certification – mandatory
- Preferred: Specialized training or education in gastroenterology.
