Job Title: Endoscopy Technician/Perioperative Aide
Location: Minneapolis, MN (Onsite)
Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, 5 days a week, 8 hours a day
Role Summary: This position involves performing direct patient care responsibilities to promote optimal patient outcomes and enhance the overall patient experience during their admission and discharge phases. The role includes assisting patients with their nutritional needs, mobility, dressing, and toileting before and after medical procedures. The technician operates under the supervision of the nursing staff to execute various delegated nursing support tasks, which include preparing equipment and supplies, collecting specimens, and ensuring the thorough cleaning and disinfection of medical instruments and scopes, along with documenting these processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and reset rooms between procedures, relocating equipment as necessary.
- Execute tasks as assigned by the Registered Nurse.
- Assist in preparing patients for medical procedures, including taking vital signs and conducting preliminary assessments.
- Support patient positioning to ensure readiness for procedures.
- Aid the healthcare provider during procedures by managing instruments such as forceps, snares, and balloons under their direction.
- Gather essential equipment and supplies prior to the commencement of procedures.
- Utilize appropriate aseptic techniques to open sterile materials.
- Reprocess and uphold equipment according to infection control standards.
- Transport contaminated instruments to the sterilization department and procure scopes for upcoming procedures.
- Exhibit the ability to deliver relevant care/services, adjusting methods to meet the needs of diverse patient populations.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED – required
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a recognized hospital or surgical facility – required
- BLS Certification – required
- Preferred: Specialized training or education in gastroenterology
