About This Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Banfield Pet Hospital. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of care for our furry patients and their owners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Veterinary Team: Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing quality care for pets, advocate for pets, and educate clients on pet health.
  • Communicate Effectively: Communicate with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and other associates to maintain a smooth flow of patients.
  • Provide Exceptional Service: Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional service to clients and pets at all times.
  • Client Education: Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans, preventive care, pet health needs, hospital services, and other issues.
  • Medical Charting: Obtain relevant information and history from clients and maintain proper and complete medical charts.
  • Patient Safety: Ensure the safety of pets, clients, and associates by utilizing safe restraining techniques, following standard protocols, and maintaining clean, sterile, and organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Mentorship: Mentor other paraprofessionals in the hospital.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in a veterinary hospital or animal care setting preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
