Senior Construction Inspector

Join the Virginia Department of Transportation as a Senior Construction Inspector and play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of our state's transportation infrastructure.
About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Construction Inspector to join our team. As a Senior Construction Inspector, you will be responsible for monitoring and inspecting roadway, structure, and bridge construction projects of routine to moderate complexity. You will ensure contractor compliance through review, interpretation, and enforcement of plans and contract documents, as well as monitoring and inspecting field work efficiently and in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with plans and contract documents
- Review and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Enforce safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment
- Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed project documentation, including reports and records
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure project completion
- Experience with construction methods, materials, equipment, standards, specifications, and terminology
- Experience applying state and federal safety, environmental, and EEO/DB guidelines and regulations related to transportation construction
- Knowledge of mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
- Ability to apply mathematical formulas and engineering principles to determine field adjustments to construction plans
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze roadway, structure, and bridge plans, construction contracts, and other project management documents
