Summary
This forward-facing role focuses on cultivating and expanding partnerships with local businesses. The Donations Acquisition Specialist will actively maintain and develop relationships to secure in-kind donations for the Habitat-Spokane Store. This position also assists the Floor Manager with various operational tasks related to point-of-sale systems, purchased materials, and procurement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify and contact local businesses through phone calls, in-person meetings, or other communication channels.
- Develop and nurture relationships with retailers, wholesalers, contractors, corporations, distribution centers, educational institutions, religious organizations, and hospitality businesses to acquire in-kind donations.
- Communicate the value proposition of donating surplus inventory or materials from renovation projects to divert them from landfills.
- Build strong professional relationships with subcontractors and vendors for service procurement.
- Conduct on-site assessments of potential donation locations, particularly commercial properties, to evaluate the value and feasibility of scheduling a pickup or project.
- Generate weekly reports on donation procurement activities, including dates, companies contacted, outcomes, and follow-up actions.
- Maintain accurate records of donor contacts and in-kind donations in Raiser's Edge.
- Assist the Floor Manager with point-of-sale system operations, opening and closing procedures, safe/till management, and deposit preparation.
- Support the Floor Manager in managing purchased inventory for the Habitat-Spokane Store, including vendor relationships, product sales analysis, ordering, receiving, and periodic cycle counts in collaboration with the Accounting Team.
- Contribute to store operations by performing tasks assigned by other Habitat Store staff or volunteers as needed.
- Actively engage in community outreach to better understand and serve the needs of Habitat-Spokane.
- Promote housing advocacy within the community.
- Assist with volunteer opportunities at the Habitat Store.
- Participate in Habitat for Humanity-Spokane events.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise volunteers and outsourced staff, adhering to organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include training, planning, assigning, and directing work.
- This role will initially not have direct reports but may oversee staff on assigned projects to support store operations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in relationship building and donor cultivation.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications.
