Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment, and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation)

  • Oversee contractors when professional repairs are necessary
  • Maintain required records and logs
  • Maintain fire alarms, sprinkler, and security systems
  • Coordinate the work of maintenance and custodial staff as directed by supervisor
  • Respond to emergency requests for repairs

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of experience in a skilled trade or building maintenance
  • Must have a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

Related degree from a Technical college or two years working experience in a large-scale maintenance facility, or five years' experience in a skilled trade which would have enabled the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform maintenance duties.

Physical Demands:

This work requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, crouching, climbing ladders, and lifting objects over 50 pounds. A high degree of dexterity is required to use tools and equipment. The work is performed in campus buildings and outdoors where the employee is occasionally exposed to heat, cold, or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, and irritating chemicals. The ability to distinguish between shades of color when working with electrical wiring is required.
