Job Summary

Sharps Medical Waste Services is a leading provider of environmental waste services, committed to safety and compliance. We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmaceutical Waste Specialist to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and manage pharmaceutical waste for transportation and disposal, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with collections of chemical and hazardous waste within hospital and customer locations, maintaining a safe and professional work environment.
  • Perform internal collection of material from satellite accumulation areas, adhering to strict health and safety protocols.
  • Packages waste to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance, ensuring accurate documentation and paperwork.
  • Interact with local disposal teams for scheduling and paperwork, ensuring seamless operations.
Requirements
  • Strong communication skills and ability to provide exceptional customer service in various settings.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-motivation and initiative.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between customer facilities.
  • Ability to safely lift 50+ pounds, with physical demands including sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting.
  • Immunizations required, as this position is in a healthcare/hospital setting.
  • 1+ years of related work experience or education, with a focus on chemical and hazardous waste management.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training and unknown handling certification (preferred but not required).
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screen, with flexibility to work outside normal work hours as required.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with a focus on chemical and hazardous waste management.
Language Skills

Ability to effectively communicate in English, read, and understand regulatory requirements, with the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or members of the business community.
