Transmission System Planning Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Transmission System Planning Engineer to join our team at Eversource Energy. As a key member of our planning department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and reliable transmission of electricity across our service territories.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and maintenance of system models for transmission studies, including collection and review of forecast loads, electric system parameters, and DER modeling.
  • Perform DER transmission system impact studies, including preparation of study scopes, verification of technical information, and application of corporate planning standards.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to interface with various stakeholders, including ISO-NE staff, DER and Distribution System Planning, and operations teams.
  • Document study results in detailed reports and present findings to regulatory agencies, DER customers, and affected parties.
  • Assist with the development of training modules and perform emergent storm assignments as needed.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on Electric Power Systems.
  • Three plus years of relevant experience in planning, design, and/or operations related to transmission lines, substation facilities, and power system planning.
  • Knowledge of power system transmission analysis tools, programming languages, and new technologies, including photovoltaic solar, electric vehicles, and battery systems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including formal presentation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and develop strategic partnerships.

Working Conditions

This is a hybrid role, requiring occasional travel between MA/CT/NH and availability to work emergency restoration assignments as required.
