Position: Laboratory Technician

Role Summary: The Laboratory Technician is tasked with the collection of urine specimens, ensuring their integrity and security while adhering to established protocols and regulations. This role reports directly to the Director of Lab Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting point-of-care testing utilizing CLIA-waived devices.
  • Managing specimen handling, including accessioning, labeling, and aliquoting, while ensuring specimen integrity and identification.
  • Monitoring lab orders within client charts and performing tests as directed by providers.
  • Implementing infection control procedures and utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
  • Employing various software platforms to facilitate compliant lab testing, input client data, and support lab operations.
  • Communicating with the verbal orders team regarding order transcription needs and may assist in transcribing provider lab orders.
  • Ensuring that schedules are maintained, collection information is communicated to the treatment team, and all orders are accurately updated in client charts.
  • Upholding HIPAA compliance by managing sensitive information and respecting client privacy.
  • Utilizing the Laboratory Information System for sample access and report retrieval.
  • Entering lab results into client charts via electronic medical records.
  • Notifying clinical and medical staff of any abnormal lab results in accordance with policy.
  • Entering billing information into client charts as per policy.
  • Disposing of chemical and biological waste in compliance with regulations.
  • Completing daily and monthly lab maintenance logs and checklists.
  • Monitoring inventory levels and placing orders for supplies to maintain adequate stock.
  • Transporting samples to the main lab for testing in a timely manner.
  • Exhibiting professionalism and adhering to the LBHS Code of Conduct.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid State of Ohio Driver's License and insurance.
  • Successful completion of BCI check and all Corporate Compliance checks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a healthcare or laboratory environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
