Job Title: Laboratory Technician

Aspen Medical is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Laboratory Technician to join our team in providing medical services to UN sponsored Kenyan Peacekeepers and US Government staff at a field hospital in Port Au Prince, Haiti.

This is a deployed, rotational contract with a 3-month on, 1-month off rotation cycle. The team will be based in a secure, purpose-built camp and hospital facility in Port au Prince, Haiti, and all service delivery requirements will be conducted within the confines of that facility.

All support services are being provided by the US Government, including camp facilities and basic life support requirements, including travel, meals, accommodation, internet, and other ancillary support services.

Aspen Medical will provide a Level 2 Field Hospital with EMS, Pre-Hospital Care, Surgical, Diagnostic and Laboratory, and other ancillary services. All clinic service delivery services will be provided in accordance with US clinical standards and compliance measures.

Requirements:
  • Citizenship: All Aspen Medical staff must be US citizens or Green Card holders.
  • Education: Successful completion of a full-time training course of approximately a year's duration in a medical or clinical laboratory assistant (or technician), or successful completion of an associate degree course of study of which the 2nd year of the 2-year program included successful completion of a training course of approximately a year's duration in a certified laboratory assistant school approved by a nationally recognized accrediting agency that included instruction in chemistry, hematology, blood banking, and microbiology (including serology), or Bachelor's degree of Medical Laboratory Science (or equivalent) in which the program included instruction in chemistry, hematology, blood banking, and microbiology (including serology)
  • Certification: Current, valid certification from American Medical Technologist (AMT) or American Society of Clinical Pathology – Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) is preferred.
  • License or Registration: Current, valid, and unrestricted license or registration from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of recent, relevant, related experience.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in Haitian Creole and/or French is highly desired. A secondary language is preferred.

This position will be a 1099 contractor, with a fixed daily rate while on rotation. You will not receive pay while off rotation.
