About the Role

Caterpillar is seeking a highly skilled Shop Technician III to join our Reman Drivetrain team in West Fargo, ND. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for assembling and disassembling products, utilizing a variety of tools and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately utilize data collection systems to track production and quality metrics.
  • Perform all tasks of the assembly process with no assistance, ensuring high-quality products.
  • Effectively perform rework operations independently, identifying and addressing any issues that may arise.
  • Train new team members on all assembly operations, ensuring a smooth onboarding process.
  • Identify and accurately categorize wear patterns of parts, contributing to the development of new assembly and disassembly procedures.
  • Use blueprints, gauges, torque measuring devices, and other equipment to ensure conformance to quality specifications.
  • Assist in the development of new assembly and disassembly procedures, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Use precision measuring devices to effectively assemble and/or disassemble final products.
  • Effectively interpret blueprints, ensuring accurate assembly and disassembly.
  • Train other technicians in various assembly and disassembly operations, promoting knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Assist the lead person in their absence, ensuring seamless team operation.
  • Perform preventive maintenance as required, ensuring equipment is in good working condition.
  • Assist in identifying issues and initiating corrective action processes as necessary, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Perform 5S Audits and Safety Stop Audits, ensuring a safe and organized work environment.
  • Participate in the CI/PID Process, contributing to the development of new procedures and processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, promoting cross-training and support for various areas of the shop.
  • Follow the Caterpillar Production System (CPS) Standard Work Sheets, ensuring adherence to company standards.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3-5 years of job-related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter.
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of changing situations.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand as needed to perform essential functions of the position.
  • Ability to periodically walk and/or travel to other areas of the plant and other warehouses as directed.
  • Ability to use keyboard, reach above shoulder height, below the waist, and lift and file documents throughout the day.
  • Ability to perform safe execution of repetitive motions.
  • Ability to repetitively lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
  • Visual and hearing abilities as appropriate for safe execution of job duties, functions, and tasks.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Hourly pay range: $30.23 (salary negotiations to be offered based on skills/experience).
  • 1st Shift Work Hours: 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
  • 2nd Shift Work Hours: 4:15 PM - 2:45 AM.
  • Monday - Thursday with occasional overtime on Fridays.
  • $2,000 sign-on bonus. Incumbent will receive first payout after 90 days of employment and second payout after 180 days of employment.
  • 40-hour work weeks with potential for overtime.
  • 80 hours of vacation with an additional 24 hours of paid Personal Time Off (PTO).
  • 10 Paid holidays.
  • 100% 401k match up to 6% offered on day 1 of employment.
