Electrical Journeyperson Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrician to join our team at George J Hayden Inc. As a Journeyperson Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, testing, and troubleshooting electrical systems in commercial, industrial, and residential settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of electrical tasks, including laying out, assembling, and installing electrical wiring, fixtures, and control devices.
  • Perform wire terminations, troubleshoot electrical systems, and demonstrate expertise in electrical materials and tools.
  • Analyze and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to ensure accurate completion of tasks.
  • Mentor apprentices and helpers, monitor work progress, and maintain accurate timecards and material sheets.
  • Collaborate with a crew of electricians and other tradespeople to ensure efficient and safe work practices.
Requirements:
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Journeyperson certificate or 7 years equivalent work experience
  • Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, supervise assigned crew, and maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) and NFPA70E
  • Proficiency in testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits using testing devices and meters
Working Conditions:
  • Jobsite visits may require lifting not to exceed 50 pounds, standing, bending, or reaching for extended periods
  • Ability to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime, and nights as required
  • Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers, and ability to frequently bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs
Special Requirements:
  • Ability to travel to jobsites locally, in-state, and out-of-state as business requires
  • Always wear personal protective equipment on jobsite
  • Employee's weight and personal tools cannot exceed the weight limit of ladder
