Lead Maintenance Specialist

Position Overview:

This role is essential in supporting the Supervisor by facilitating the daily operations of the maintenance department, ensuring that the Supervisor's directives are effectively communicated and executed by the team members in a timely and accurate manner.

The individual in this position will also be tasked with diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing all machinery and company assets while fostering a safe working environment and adhering to Tyson Foods' policies and procedures.

This role is crucial for ensuring the production of high-quality feed while prioritizing safety in the workplace.

Key Responsibilities:

As the lead for a designated team of milling technicians, you will be responsible for achieving all feed schedule requirements, conducting daily maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance (PM) of the production equipment and systems within the feed mill. Your specific duties will include:

Leading and guiding team members in monitoring and making necessary adjustments to production equipment to meet or exceed Tyson standards. Staying informed about production requirements through the FOD guidelines. Responding to maintenance requests from production, assessing needs, and implementing solutions to minimize downtime. Assisting supervision in evaluating the workmanship, performance, and quality of repairs conducted by your assigned technicians, while providing coaching and training in best practices. Being available to support the unloading of Grain Trains during weekends. Leading your team in conducting inspections. Documenting all significant maintenance activities in the daily maintenance log and communicating follow-up needs with the supervisor. Collaborating with supervision to foster a culture of teamwork, cooperation, and equitable workload distribution among team members. Setting and maintaining high performance standards for yourself and your team in terms of productivity, quality of work, initiative, and integrity. Leading safety meetings and ensuring that the team adheres to all Tyson policies regarding safety, hygiene, OSHA, EPA, and ethical standards.

Qualifications:

Basic computer skills are required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Availability to work 12-hour shifts on weekends is necessary. Proficient written and verbal communication skills are a must. A demonstrated high level of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic skills. Proven ability to perform maintenance and repairs on process equipment in the designated area. A proactive approach and high performance in completing maintenance tasks. Capability to lead, coach, guide, and educate other team members in maintenance responsibilities. Must provide personal small tools. A minimum of one year of industrial maintenance experience is required. Education in Industrial Maintenance Certification or current enrollment in a technical school may be considered in lieu of experience.

Rehire Consideration:

A maximum of two previous employments with Tyson Foods. A waiting period of 365 days (6 months) is applicable.
