Job Summary

The Engineering Technician will provide technical and engineering support services to the Watershed Planning and Design Department by preparing engineering plans for various types of water resource projects and assisting with field site assessments and project monitoring.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with the lead engineer and project team during design concept development.
  • Prepare engineering plans and documents using AutoCAD Civil3D.
  • Assist in data collection during field assessments and routine monitoring.
  • Develop and update technical reports.
  • Inspect construction projects for plan conformance, structures, and materials.
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, supervisors, and other inspectors regarding specifications and site progress.
Requirements
  • Associate degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of CAD design and drafting experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • One year of applicable work experience.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Stormwater Pollution Prevention Inspector in Iowa.
  • Familiarity with water resource projects, specifically, green infrastructure, wetlands, and stream restoration projects.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite products utilizing the latest operating system.
  • Experience using ESRI products, including ArcGIS Pro and Field Maps.
