The George Washington University Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) Division is seeking a seasoned professional to serve as the Associate Director of Development, Athletics. This critical role will play a key part in advancing the university's mission of excellence in education, research, scholarship, and patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategic plans to build strong relationships between fans, alumni, and the university, resulting in significant fundraising support for the athletics department.
- Engage with a portfolio of approximately 100 prospects to secure gifts ranging from $50,000 to $500,000+ from prospects.
- Collaborate closely with prospect research and development/alumni relations colleagues to identify, cultivate, and track major gift prospects.
- Establish effective working relationships with fellow school/unit fundraisers, deans, department heads, faculty, and administrative staff to accomplish fundraising goals.
- Develop meaningful connections with alumni, parents, and friends of the athletic department, moving them across the donor continuum to result in stronger engagement and philanthropic support.
- Develop and implement strategies to move major and principal gift prospects through the donor continuum with urgency each fiscal year, securing gifts to meet annual personal attainment goals.
- Work with the athletics marketing and communications team to ensure the engagement of fans with philanthropic support of athletics.
- Build and maintain relationships with coaches and administrators across the department to understand and effectively communicate funding priorities.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record of fundraising success, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently with urgency and initiative.
