Overview

AmeriCorps is a national service program that offers opportunities for individuals to make a difference in their communities while gaining valuable work experience. As a Community Public Health Specialist with the American Red Cross, you will be part of a team dedicated to engaging volunteers and providing emergency readiness education to vulnerable communities.


Salary and Benefits

The position comes with a bi-weekly stipend of $869.57, paid every other Friday, as well as a $3,697.50 education award upon successful completion. Additionally, you may qualify for health care and dental coverage, student loan forbearance, and child care assistance.


Job Description

You will identify and conduct outreach within the communities we serve, recruit a diverse pool of volunteers, and support their onboarding process. You will also deliver preparedness presentations and hands-only CPR instruction, and support the recovery of individuals impacted by public health and disaster-related emergencies.


Required Skills and Qualifications
  • You must be able to serve approximately 40+ hours per week for 5.5 months, hold a High School Diploma or GED, and possess a valid driver's license.
  • You must also be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident, and willing to relocate if selected for the position.
  • Desirable qualities include experience working with volunteers, strong leadership and communication skills, and a passion for community outreach and education.

Location

Work location: Tacoma, WA. This is an in-person role with regional travel.
