Job Summary

East Side House Settlement is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated College Retention Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Post-Secondary Pathways Program, you will play a critical role in supporting students in their transition to college and ensuring their success in higher education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide college access services to PSP participants and students at The College Academy, including application and enrollment support, financial aid guidance, and academic advising.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including DOE, CBO staff, and other community partners, to ensure effective communication and student support.
  • Design and implement workshops and events to promote college readiness and success, including school-wide events and trips related to the college process.
  • Track student progress through application and matriculation steps, and provide regular updates to the Education Services Manager and Director of PSP.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting on data pertaining to student application, enrollment, and matriculation.
Requirements
  • Currently attending college in New York City (completed at least one year of college preferred)
  • High school diploma or GED, AA degree in education or human service-related field a plus
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
  • Experience with grassroots information dissemination strategies and previous outreach experience in urban communities helpful
  • Knowledge of, and familiarity with, institutions and people from the overall Washington Heights and Mott Haven neighborhoods highly preferred
