Position Overview:
The South Dakota Board of Regents is seeking a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to play a pivotal role in the planning, design, installation, programming, testing, and maintenance of our infrastructure systems.

Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will:

  • Assess hardware and software requirements for the organization.
  • Collaborate with vendors to define and specify appropriate hardware and software solutions.
  • Propose enhancements to existing infrastructure and resources.
  • Supervise team members and participate in on-call duties as part of the IT Operations team.

This is a full-time position that requires a commitment to excellence in service delivery.

Core Duties Include:
Working with various network services, security systems, email services, directory services, configuration management tools, storage solutions, virtualization technologies, cloud services, load balancing systems, and web applications.

Essential Functions:
- Ensure comprehensive documentation is created and maintained for all infrastructure services.
- Monitor the performance and availability of infrastructure systems.
- Ensure service contracts are established to meet organizational needs.
- Document test plans and their outcomes.

Required Knowledge:
- Networking protocols and operating systems.
- Client and server operating systems (Windows, Mac OS, Linux).
- Systems and Network Operating Center monitoring tools.
- Security technologies.

Skills and Abilities:
- Identify and implement enhancements to IT infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve IT infrastructure issues.
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences.
- Write and speak clearly and effectively.
- Evaluate new hardware and software for relevance and effectiveness.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, and vendors.
- Collaborate effectively as a team member and technical lead.
