Position Overview:

The Cybersecurity Specialist is responsible for ensuring comprehensive test design that facilitates a thorough evaluation of systems and equipment against various threats and vulnerabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts cybersecurity assessments to pinpoint security deficiencies within Information Technology frameworks, leading to actionable recommendations for risk mitigation strategies.
  • Identifies, evaluates, and analyzes the application of network resources, scrutinizing anomalies in network traffic or architecture.
  • Offers technical counsel regarding the adequacy and suitability of testing protocols.
  • Formulates mission attack strategies utilizing expert knowledge of Cloud cyber defense and vulnerability assessment tools, including open-source solutions.
  • Evaluates risk levels and provides guidance on suitable mitigation measures.
Requirements:

Conditions of Employment: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Males born after must be registered or exempt from Selective Service. This role may require access to classified information, necessitating a favorable suitability review and security clearance.

This is a Drug Testing Position requiring Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, candidates must demonstrate:

  • Attention to Detail: Experience in reviewing IT-related work for accuracy and consistency.
  • Customer Service: Ability to maintain relationships with clients and assess their IT needs.
  • Oral Communication: Proficiency in briefing management and IT personnel on system statuses.
  • Problem Solving: Capability to identify alternatives for complex IT issues by gathering and applying diverse information.

Experience: At least one year of experience in performing threat and cybersecurity assessments of Cloud environments, identifying deviations from acceptable configurations, and conducting risk analysis.

Education: No educational substitution for qualifying experience at the GG-13 grade level.

Additional Information:

This term appointment may be extended up to a total of 5 years and is subject to the Cyber Workforce requirements as defined by DoD policies.

Salary includes a Targeted Local Market Supplement (TLMS) as per relevant regulations.

This position is in the Excepted Service and does not convey eligibility for conversion to the Competitive Service.
