Patient Care Associate, Per Diem

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Associate to join our team at Spaulding Hospital Cape Cod. As a Patient Care Associate, you will provide direct patient care under the direction and supervision of a licensed Nurse. This is a per diem opportunity, allowing you to choose your schedule and work at your own pace.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care, including bed baths, toileting, grooming, and changing bed linen, as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Implement patient care plans, ensuring timely and effective delivery of care.
- Monitor patient vital signs and perform blood glucose checks, as per established guidelines.
- Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding, as needed.
- Perform regular patient rounds and respond promptly to call lights to meet patients' needs.
- Document patient care in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to established standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized patient environment, ensuring a safe and comfortable space for patients.
- Obtain and label specimens, following established procedures.
- Provide mentoring and teaching to new nursing assistants, ensuring they meet performance expectations.
- Participate in departmental activities and objectives, upholding the SRN Organizational Values of Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required, unless candidate holds a nursing assistant certification.
- Recent experience and/or training in clinical patient care.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Basic skills in math and computer science.
- Healthcare Provider CPR certification required.
- Knowledge of DPH/OEMS regulations.
- Enrollment in a Nursing, Pre-Med, or Physician Assistant undergraduate program, with a minimum of one semester of completed patient care rotations at the time of hire.
- Possession of a valid license, certification, or enrollment as a student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT-accredited program at the time of hire.
- Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills, working with diverse populations.
- Ability to work independently, be self-directed, and contribute as a member of a team.
- Anticipation of challenges and development of strategies for addressing them.
- High level of service delivery, with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing situations.
This role requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands requiring fine motor skills and sense of touch, move/rotate/bend wrists, type/use keyboard or other data entry device, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, climb ladder or other equipment, drive/operate motor vehicle, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, crawl, speak, hear, taste, smell, and touch.
This role also requires the ability to work in a variety of environments, including outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold, work in high places, work in confined spaces, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation exposure, exposure to blood-borne pathogens, flammable/explosive gases, toxic/caustic chemicals, dust or other irritants, grease or oils, hazardous specimens, exposure to lab animals, infectious/contagious disease, cleaning agents/chemicals, hot equipment, noisy equipment, humid or wet conditions, and other.
This role requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects, with varying degrees of weight and frequency.
