This position is responsible for providing quality drug distribution and clinical pharmaceutical care for patients and house staff within established guidelines and statutory requirements.
Responsibilities- Provide pharmaceutical care to patients and house staff
- Prepare, distribute, and handle pharmaceuticals
- Advise on administration, provide drug information, and monitor drug therapy
- Monitor drug therapy in various areas, including parenteral nutrition, pharmacokinetic monitoring, renal dosing, and IV to oral medication conversion
- Recommend appropriate drug therapy to physicians, monitor therapy for desired outcomes, and initiate formulary policy procedures
- Communicate effectively with physicians and nursing staff regarding drug therapies
- Assure accuracy in the preparation of medications, records, labels, and documentation
- Maintain, update, and monitor each patient's medication profile
- Process patient charges in a timely and accurate manner
- Assist in the training of pharmacists, technicians, interns, and students
- Supervise pharmacy interns, students, and technicians
- Participate in quality initiatives, serve as a liaison between nursing and pharmacy, and provide information to improve and enhance services
- Working-level knowledge of the English language
- Completion of a Pharmacy Clinical Practice Residency or equivalent training program in clinical pharmacy
- Previous hospital pharmacy experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Pharmacist license
- Healthcare BLS certification within the first 90 days of employment
- Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within the first 90 days of employment
- Computer/typing skills, including online learning requirements, access to online forms and policies, and benefits enrollment
This position operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and may require varying shifts and days to meet the needs of the Department of Pharmacy.
