Director of Case Management

Inova Mount Vernon is seeking a seasoned leader to serve as the Director of Case Management. This role will oversee the Case Management team, providing care to patients from various specialties, including Behavioral Health. The Director of Case Management will lead strategic development and functional services to support department objectives and organizational goals. They will maintain effective relationships with patients, attending medical staff, and other departments. The Director will manage department finances, including budgeting and controlling salary, non-salary, and capital investment expenses. They will also supervise professional staff, including day-to-day supervision, team member relations, and staff development. Key responsibilities include leading utilization review, social work, and discharge planning activities within the assigned operating unit. The Director will oversee the day-to-day operation of Case Management-related activities, including the preparation, distribution, and interpretation of monthly reports on productivity and Case Management targets. They will also lead the management, measurement, and continuous quality improvement of Length of Stay (LOS), avoidable days, and denial management. The Director will maintain the Case Management database and use Case Management software. They will respond promptly to requests from other departments within the operating unit and maintain cooperative relationships with corresponding departments at other operating units. The Director will ensure adherence to service excellence standards and provide outstanding service to internal and external customers. They will also manage reimbursement and contract issues through collaboration with managed care contracting. Requirements: Minimum Experience - Five years of experience in case management or acute care, including at least one year of management experience. Registered Nurse experience is preferred.
