About the Role

UCLA Health is seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant III to serve as a Surgery Coordinator for our multi-specialty group at the Santa Monica Stein Eye Center. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing patients' surgery care and serving as the point of contact for all surgery needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule patients for surgery and related appointments
  • Work closely with doctors and OR staff to ensure seamless patient care
  • Obtain pre-authorizations and referrals to facilitate timely treatment
  • Coordinate with insurance companies to resolve billing and payment issues
  • Assist patients through the consenting process, ensuring they are fully informed and prepared for surgery
Requirements
  • Minimum two years' experience working in a medical office as a surgery scheduler
  • Proven ability to schedule patient appointments using computerized systems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, promoting effective communication with patients, staff, and doctors
  • Strong organizational skills, maintaining accurate records and prioritizing tasks efficiently
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, diseases, and current patient billing practices
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, multitasking effectively in a dynamic environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years' experience working in a medical teaching institution or ophthalmology practice setting
  • Familiarity with ophthalmology and related terminology, enhancing your ability to communicate effectively with providers and patients
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is $32.50 - 45.23 per hour, based on the location and industry standards.
