Position Overview

Insight Global is seeking a Fiber Optics Specialist to assist a Federal client. This role is a temporary engagement based in Chamblee, GA. The Fiber Technicians will be tasked with the following responsibilities:

  • Labeling and terminating fiber optic cables
  • Installing data equipment such as racks, patch panels, and cable trays
  • Conducting tests on all installed cables using the necessary testing tools
  • Documenting all relevant information regarding cables and equipment
  • Installing voice lines for various phone systems
  • Upholding a professional demeanor and representing the employer positively
  • Interpreting and understanding blueprints

Essential Qualifications

  • Clearable status to obtain public trust
  • 4-5 years of experience in cabling
  • Proficient in fiber optics
  • Effective communication skills with clients, both in-person and via phone
  • Able to follow instructions with minimal supervision
  • Providing installation services for IT hardware, including PCs, printers, servers, and network switches
  • Troubleshooting basic networking issues
  • Basic knowledge of network cable installation is advantageous
  • Understanding of voice and data architecture is beneficial
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and overnight stays
  • Capability to work in diverse environments, including indoors, outdoors, confined spaces, and on ladders
  • Proficient in operating electrical tools such as drills and saws
  • Background in construction or electrical work is a plus
  • State licensing is not mandatory but preferred
  • Ability to pass drug screenings, background checks, and reference checks
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license; some roles may require a clean driving record

Compensation:

$27 per hour

Compensation may vary based on various factors, including skills, experience, and education.
