We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse II to join our team in the Psych department at the University of New Mexico. This is a per diem position, and the ideal candidate will have a strong background in psychiatric nursing and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities- Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, working within the nursing process to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement and document individualized care plans, incorporating age-specific considerations and discharge planning.
- Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights, and document and communicate clinical findings.
- Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained.
- Participate in orientation and assume precepting and evaluation responsibilities of new personnel.
- Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors, and/or near misses in a timely manner.
- 2 years of directly related experience as a Registered Nurse.
- CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer certification within 30 days.
- RN licensure in New Mexico or as allowed by reciprocal agreement.
- Nationally Certified in area of specialty.
- PALS certification.
- TNCC and/or ENPC certification.
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to biohazardous materials and chemicals. The ideal candidate will be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
