The University of California, Irvine is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing a unique project that aims to educate and train Latino youth in traffic safety and transportation science.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a project comprised of UCI faculty and community leaders to advance opportunities for youth to recognize and take advantage of the benefits of transportation in later health, education, and employment.
  • Work closely with the B3 Program Director to ensure the success of the Youth Thriving in Life Transitions with Transportation Project.
  • Establish methods to attain project goals and objectives, using analytical practices, policies, and procedures to develop solutions to a wide range of issues.
  • Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions, and develop new approaches and procedures within the overall program for possible implementation.
Requirements
  • Ability to maintain effective professional relationships with project faculty and community partners.
  • Working knowledge of public health, community education, and training, and development of programs.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Effective leadership skills, including coordinating and organizing project activities for project success.
  • Demonstrated high-level communications skills to convey information in a clear and concise way.
  • Ability to think critically, compile information from various sources, and prepare reports.
  • Skill in working independently, taking initiative, following through on all assignments, and multi-tasking with demanding timeframes.
  • Ability to work as a supportive, cooperative, and collaborative member of the project team.
  • Ability to multitask and definitively adhere to meeting project deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to establish, organize, and maintain project files and records while being discreet and maintaining all confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Google Docs, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF, Image Editing Program, Data Visualization Tools (e.g., SAS).
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish with high fluency in speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish.
  • Master's degree in health sciences (Public Health, Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, etc.) or Business Administration.
  • Formal training in public health epidemiology.
  • Working knowledge of frameworks and approaches to achieve health equity at the community level.
  • National Commission for Health Education Credentialing Inc. (NCHEC) - Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).
  • At least 2 years' experience working in community-focused/based education, program implementation, and/or research projects.
Working Conditions
  • Work daily on the UCI campus and travel to community sites for project activities and project-related visits as needed.
  • Possible weekend and evening hours.
