Overview:

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide counseling and guidance to HEOP students in academic, personal, financial, and career matters. Conduct regular one-on-one sessions with students based on their academic year. Assist with course selection and registration, and support students with writing tasks as needed.
• Advise students on academic probation, ensuring they are aware of available resources and academic expectations. Identify when additional support is necessary and oversee a team of tutors and mentoring programs.
• Organize and facilitate Academic Success workshops, evaluating their effectiveness and planning necessary assessments.
• Train and manage tutors, ensuring they are equipped to support students effectively.
• Assist in planning formal and social events for the program, fostering community engagement.
• Supervise structured study sessions for students, advocating for their needs with faculty and staff.

30%
• Collect and analyze data related to student attrition, retention, and graduation rates.
• Coordinate the Academic Support Program throughout the academic year and during summer initiatives, collaborating with faculty to address students' academic needs.
• Prepare reports for the director, ensuring compliance with educational standards and accurately tracking support hours and outcomes.
• Publish the HEOP newsletter, keeping the community informed of relevant updates.
• Monitor students' academic performance, requesting evaluations as necessary.
• Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the Program Director.

20%
• Identify and recruit prospective students for the HEOP program, making informed admission decisions. Participate in outreach activities at high schools and college fairs.
• Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and assist in organizing summer institute events.
• Manage office supplies and maintain program logistics, including appointment scheduling and financial reconciliations.

Education / Experience:


• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education, Counseling, or a related field is required.
• A minimum of two to three years of experience working with diverse populations.
• Proven experience in designing and leading workshops and seminars.
• Familiarity with evaluations and research methodologies.
• Relevant life experiences that resonate with the student population served.
• Proficiency in computer applications is essential.

Competencies / Skills:


• Strong self-direction and problem-solving abilities.
• Administrative experience in a higher education or nonprofit setting.
• Experience working with college students from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to engage effectively with a wide range of individuals.

Supervision of Employees:

Oversight of HEOP Student Tutors, Study Tutorial Staff, and Summer Faculty.

Equipment to be Used:
