Job Overview

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assessment and Diagnosis

  2. Therapeutic Intervention

    • Adapt therapy techniques to meet the unique needs of each student.
  3. Collaboration and Consultation
    • Collaborate with teachers, occupational therapists, behavior specialists, and other school staff to support students' communication needs.
    • Provide consultation and training to educators and parents on effective communication strategies.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of individualized education plans (IEPs).
  4. Documentation and Reporting
    • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress and therapy sessions.
    • Prepare detailed reports and documentation for IEP meetings, progress reviews, and other evaluations.
    • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding speech and language services.
  5. Family Involvement
    • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding students' progress and therapy goals.
    • Provide resources and support to families to help them reinforce communication skills at home.
    • Involve families in the therapy process and encourage their active participation.
  6. Professional Development
    • Stay current with best practices and research in the field of speech-language pathology.

    • Maintain licensure and certifications as required by the state and professional organizations.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure in California.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCCSLP) preferred.
  • Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders or related developmental disabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based practices in speech and language therapy.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
