This National Guard role is classified as a WG Tools and Parts Attendant (Title 32). It is a temporary position within the Army National Guard Units, specifically in the Field Maintenance Shop 3.
Appointment Details:
This role is a temporary vacancy not to exceed one year and falls under the Excepted Service category. It is a bargaining position, subject to specific conditions outlined below.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and identify the tools, parts, and equipment needs of users, and initiate stock requisitions as necessary.
- Monitor and report on items that are in limited supply due to damage or frequent repairs.
- Suggest alternative or interchangeable items when necessary.
- Organize, shift, and maintain storage areas effectively.
- Establish methods for storage, identification, and stock location.
- Maintain records related to the quantity, cost, and types of materials received, stored, and distributed.
- Conduct periodic inventories and investigate discrepancies related to overages, shortages, or misplaced items by reviewing relevant records.
- Determine stock replenishment levels for centrally managed supplies within budget constraints.
- Review requisitions for accuracy and adherence to regulations, adjusting quantities ordered based on current stock levels.
- Classify requisitions, shipping orders, and other documentation, and direct requests to alternative supply sources when stock is unavailable.
Qualifications:
Military Requirements:
As this position is temporary, compatibility requirements may be waived for a maximum duration of one year. The selecting official must confirm that the candidate is currently assigned to a military unit within the Missouri National Guard and that the selection does not result in grade inversion.
General Experience:
Applicants must demonstrate experience, education, or training that showcases knowledge of trade and shop items, the ability to identify specific item names, models, and stock numbers, as well as proficiency in using basic hand tools and following instructions.
Specialized Experience:
Candidates must possess at least 9 months of specialized experience that includes:
- Verifying stock by inspecting, counting, and visually checking container contents.
- Organizing and adjusting storage locations based on available space.
- Identifying correct items for intended use or recommending suitable substitutes.
- Completing stock records that detail names, quantities, and locations of inventory.
- Performing maintenance tasks such as replacing handles on tools and conducting operational checks.
- Identifying errors in item issuance and maintaining accurate records.
Additional Information:
This position does not allow for educational qualifications to substitute for specialized experience. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered under the Military Selective Service Act to be eligible for appointment.
