Key Responsibilities- Utilize equipment efficiently to anticipate patient needs and deliver appropriate care.
- Adhere to established techniques and procedures in line with accepted standards of practice.
- Assist in managing inventory of supplies, medications, and equipment to ensure availability in the admission area.
- Support the Registered Nurse in the comprehensive pre-anesthesia care process.
- Employ two patient identifiers to confirm and validate patient identity and the procedure to be performed.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to prepare the pre-procedure environment.
- Provide comfort and reassurance to patients, maintaining their privacy and dignity.
- Participate in site marking as part of the pre-operative protocol.
- Conduct assessments including Fall Risk and DVT to ensure patient safety.
- Monitor patient conditions and vital signs, maintaining precise documentation.
- Report any abnormalities observed to the Registered Nurse promptly.
- Document the physical and emotional status of patients in preparation for their procedures.
- Review post-procedure instructions with patients and their responsible adults.
- Ensure understanding of discharge instructions and indications for seeking emergent care.
- Organize time, equipment, supplies, and personnel for effective case management.
- Assist patients with attire changes as necessary.
- Maintain order and cleanliness in pre-procedure areas while managing supplies and inventory.
- Transport patients safely, adhering to all policies and safety requirements.
- Confirm that preoperative testing and medical clearance are documented in the patient's medical chart.
- Prepare necessary equipment and supplies for patient care and diagnostic tests.
- Exhibit knowledge of instrument, supply, and equipment maintenance requirements.
- Ensure proper cleaning and handling of instruments post-use, following established policies.
- Safely operate equipment according to manufacturer instructions.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Note: Candidates must successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
