Job Overview
The Composite Material Specialist will ensure the delivery of high-quality products that reflect the expertise and capabilities of Southland Employment.
This position is field-based, with working hours determined by project requirements and daylight availability.
The work environment will frequently change, necessitating constant vigilance regarding surroundings and potential hazards. Employees may need to operate in extreme weather conditions and at significant heights using high-reach equipment or scaffolding.
Compensation: $22 – 25 / hr
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate proficiency and craftsmanship in composite materials, carpentry, and metalwork using standard hand and power tools.
- Utilize bodywork materials such as Bondo, wood putty, and caulk.
- Operate tools including spray guns, airless sprayers, sanders, and grinders.
- Construct and repair themed elements using various materials, including fiberglass, epoxy, and wood.
- Meet installation targets in accordance with project timelines.
- Conduct quality control assessments on completed work.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations set forth by the company and governing bodies.

Qualifications and Skills
Essential:
- At least three years of experience with fiberglass.
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
- Competence in interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Mechanically inclined with a strong understanding of industry tools and materials.
- Must possess personal hand tools suitable for fiberglass work.
- Advanced knowledge of industry-related tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Strong communication skills, with a professional demeanor.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Capacity to take initiative and prioritize tasks effectively.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands outlined are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this role.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance or lifting devices.
- Capability to walk, stand, hear, and see to perform essential job functions for extended periods.
- Physical abilities include dragging, pulling, lifting, pushing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and overhead work.
- Must possess agility and balance, with a willingness to work at heights.
