Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Production Manager to lead our plant operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing and managing staff activities, ensuring correct workload planning, receiving, maintenance, inventory controls, and distribution.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Plan and direct plant operations for facility, ensuring efficient and effective production processes.
  2. Direct and manage staff activities, including workload planning, receiving, maintenance, inventory controls, and distribution.
  3. Proactively review practices for correct, quality workmanship and process flow, along with timeliness.
  4. Diagnose potential areas needing improvement and identify and implement process improvements to increase productivity.
  5. Ensure complete and timely product delivery, preparing and distributing production schedules.
  6. Establish and maintain product quality specifications, ensuring quality to standard.
  7. Responsible for quality of all products and materials from designated areas of responsibility, meeting all production specifications.
  8. Technical responsibilities with vendors and suppliers, may also require technical interaction with Research and Development.
  9. Ensure communication of results vs. standards, preparing and distributing production reports.
  10. Ensure a safe work environment, promptly addressing safety issues and ensuring OSHA standard and ISO 9000 compliance (if applicable).
  11. Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs, ensuring effective equipment utilization and safety measures are in place.
  12. Reviews data to seek process, people, and machine improvements, developing plans to instill desired results.
  13. Ensure implementation and monitoring of all parts of the turnkey process, including pick, pack & ship, fulfillment, distribution, customer relations, inventory control, purchasing, etc.
  14. As applicable, management of hazardous waste programs, coating line pollution, prevention measures, and waste minimalization.
  15. Accountable for proper process and procedures for labeling, handling, storage, and inspection of waste.
  16. Meet or exceed budgeted financial performance standards, preparing and administering departmental budgets.
  17. Maintains an organized work environment to ensure a safe, efficient operation.
  18. Responsible for determining the staffing levels for production.
  19. Responsible for the development of group leaders and associates.
  20. Communicate with team leaders, group leaders, and associates on other shifts.
  21. May serve as a facilitator on a designated Safety Team.
Requirements
  • BA/BS degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of production management experience, managing 50+ associates.
  • Strong maintenance background.
  • MS Office.
  • Ability to forecast production requirements and organize workload into a schedule.
  • Solid knowledge of how manufacturing, customer service, and physical distribution processes and functions interrelate.
  • Demonstrate leadership in management, staff development, and training with analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to meet objectives within time-sensitive deadlines with outstanding follow-through, time management, and planning skills.
  • Excellent communications with strong customer service orientation.
  • Financial analysis and forecasting experience preferred.
  • Bilingual skills a plus (Spanish).
  • APICS certification also a plus.
  • Ability to adjust manpower and departmental spending to accommodate real-time sales and conditions.
  • Ability to effectively manage a multicultural workforce.
  • Proven record of implementing and utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Working knowledge of Six Sigma and Quality Management Systems.

Position requires minimal travel (< 10%).
