Job Title: Behavioral Health Technician

Wexford Health Sources, Inc. is a leading innovative correctional health care company that provides comprehensive health care services to inmates. We are seeking a skilled Behavioral Health Technician to join our team.

Job Summary

The Behavioral Health Technician will work as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team to provide therapeutic services to mentally ill or intellectually and developmentally disabled inmates. The successful candidate will plan and conduct therapeutic client activities, provide supervision and leadership, and evaluate clients' capabilities to recommend placement in activity programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct therapeutic client activities appropriate to the designated program.
  • Provide leadership for one or more groups of clients in one phase of the total therapeutic activities program.
  • Evaluate clients' capabilities and prepare recommendations on placement of clients in activity programs.
  • Assist in maintaining administrative and clinical records.
  • Request supplies and equipment needed for assigned activities.
  • Provide individual instruction for clients as required.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field. Knowledge of the principles and practices of therapeutic activity programs is essential. The successful candidate will also have the ability to plan, organize, direct, and participate in recreation/leisure activities, and prepare, set-up, and maintain equipment related to therapeutic activities.

Work Environment

The Behavioral Health Technician will work in a standard medical setting in a correctional facility, interacting with inmates, correctional staff, and health care personnel. The work environment may involve temperature extremes while moving throughout the facility outdoors and indoors in buildings without air conditioning.
