Description

The Fire Apprentice position is a civilian employee role within the Peoria Fire Department. This program provides a career pathway for teenagers and young adults, supplementing the pool of qualified candidates upon successful completion of state mandates. The ideal candidate will be between 18-25 years old, reflecting the community's demographic diversity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform various fire service-related duties and training
  • Collaborate with internal and external components to achieve integrated objectives
Requirements
  • Residency in the City of Peoria
  • High School graduation or equivalent certificate
  • Valid Illinois Driver's license (Class D)
  • Cumulative High School GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Enrollment in at least 6 credit hours per semester at an accredited college or university
Salary and Benefits

Estimated salary: $40,000 - $60,000 per year
