POSITION OVERVIEW

Child Care Teachers are entrusted with the health, welfare, and age-appropriate education of children in our care. This role involves effective communication with parents/guardians regarding any concerns, milestones, and objectives for the children in the classroom. The teacher must implement a curriculum that is developmentally suitable and encourages active participation. Responsibilities also include ensuring the safety and health of the facility while adhering to all state regulations. Child Care Teachers supervise and guide Teacher Assistants and Classroom Aides within their assigned classroom, ensuring compliance with state standards. Opportunities are available for both Year-Round and Seasonal positions. The compensation for this role is $22.00/hr.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Engage with children, initiating and encouraging participation in daily activities while ensuring their safety

• Develop and implement a curriculum that aligns with the Vermont Early Childhood Learning Standards

• Facilitate communication between parents and caregivers

• Maintain and develop portfolios for all children in the ongoing program

• Conduct behavioral and cognitive assessments for all children in care at least twice annually

• Organize and prepare for parent-teacher conferences

• Complete 24 hours of approved professional development each year

• Stay informed about and comply with state licensing requirements and regulations

• As mandated reporters, all staff at Stratton Child Care Center must report any suspected abuse or neglect to the Department of Child and Family Services as outlined by DCF

• Be prepared to follow designated protocols for reporting unsafe conditions

• Additional duties as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 21 college credits in Early Education or a qualifying Associate's Degree
  • Must meet or exceed Vermont standards for Teacher Associate position
Experience:
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a licensed childcare center or as an Early Elementary Educator
  • Must be at least 20 years of age
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • First Aid & CPR Certified
  • Proficient in Windows, Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

• This position requires availability during winter weekends and holidays

• Must be able to lift 40 pounds regularly
