At J&E Companies, we are seeking a highly skilled Machine Operator - Turning to join our team. This role involves operating Turning Center-Twin Spindles machines, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:- Set up and operate Twin Spindle Turning machines, loading raw steel and unloading finished product.
- Troubleshoot problems on the Twin Spindle Turning machine, replace worn tools, and perform visual inspections.
- Submit correct first articles to QA, monitor dimensions, and adjust as required to maintain tolerances.
- Advise lead/supervisor of shortages or poor-quality materials/products, accurately count all pieces, and tag completed jobs with proper work order data.
- Report supply needs and equipment breakdowns to the lead/supervisor, maintain all equipment in the department, and complete all required paperwork in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean and orderly workstation, follow all company processes and procedures with high attention to safety and quality.
- Advanced experience in Swiss machine programming, set-up, and operation, with the ability to work independently.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to conduct root cause analysis and troubleshoot solutions.
- Basic math skills, trade school or Associate in Machining preferred, or High school diploma or equivalent.
- Read/use measuring devices as small as .003", read blueprints and process sheets in both standard and metric.
- Possess computer skills necessary to operate the CNC terminal, knowledge of different types of raw materials.
The Machine Operator - Turning will primarily perform their work in a production warehouse, interacting with team members throughout the facility. The production warehouse will work with and around various industrial warehouse equipment and vehicles, including forklifts and robotic arms, in an environment that includes exposure to loud noise levels, vibration, chemicals, dust, fumes, mechanical hazards, bright lights, and hot or cold temperatures.
The incumbent will be required to attend to machinery for long periods, use a computer keyboard, mentally focus on tasks, review documents, wear personal protective equipment, move through the production warehouse facility, respond to safety control noises, reach under, over, above, or around machinery, lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with the proper equipment.
This role is classified as full-time nonexempt (hourly) and incumbents will work a minimum of 40 hours in a work week. Work is expected to be delivered within established deadlines and quality standards within specific time periods. This is typically within a 40-hour work week. Overtime (working more than 40 hours in a work week) may be worked when approved or could be required if requested by a manager.
