Job Summary

As a School Health Services Coordinator, you will play a vital role in implementing comprehensive health programs for our students, promoting health education, and providing direct care to students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care to students, utilizing professional assessment skills and established school health protocols.
  • Serve as a health advocate for students, notifying parents of accidents or illnesses and securing medical care as needed.
  • Coordinate the management of medications for students, administering medications according to district policy and procedures.
  • Develop and implement effective procedures for mandatory screening programs, making referrals as necessary.
  • Participate in the development of campus health education curriculum and provide health education to individuals and groups.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school, physicians, parents, and community, assessing student problems and making appropriate referrals.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
  • Valid registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • Certified by the Texas Department of Health to conduct vision and hearing screening.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Two years of nursing experience, preferably in community health.
Working Conditions

Maintain emotional control under stress, with exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases. Ability to lift 30 pounds, with frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing.
