Senior Data Privacy Attorney

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Privacy Attorney to join our Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity practice in Chicago. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with experienced privacy and cybersecurity attorneys to provide comprehensive counsel to a broad range of clients, from Fortune 500 companies to start-ups, across industries including technology, fintech, healthcare, retail, and entertainment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with our team to advise clients on data protection issues, including cross-border transfers, product compliance, cookies and adtech, regulatory investigations, ransomware incidents, and corporate transactions.
  • Develop and implement effective data protection strategies to ensure compliance with evolving privacy regulations, including CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, FTC Act, and other global privacy regulations.
  • Lead data breach preparation, risk mitigation, and incident response efforts, and provide expert advice on privacy and security-related due diligence in corporate transactions.
  • Work closely with clients to negotiate professional services agreements, vendor contracts, data processing agreements, and cross-border transfer agreements.
Requirements:
  • Active admission to the Illinois bar, with excellent academic credentials.
  • At least 3 years of experience specializing in data protection legal matters, with expertise advising on privacy compliance with global privacy regulations.
  • Strong technical fluency in Internet operations, excellent communication and writing skills, and a proven ability to deliver exceptional client service.
  • IAPP CIPP certification (U.S. and EU) is strongly preferred.
