Job Summary:

Operates conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing various duties.

Studies blueprints, specifications, and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces and sequence of operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Effectively uses shop packages, including manufacturing orders, bills of materials, routings, part prints, job layouts, and quality alerts.
  • Ensures that only calibrated gages and tools are used.
  • Set up and operates multiple machines simultaneously as required by the routing.
  • Sorts and reworks non-conforming parts as needed.
  • Follows safe working practices and notifies supervisory personnel or safety team members of any unsafe conditions.
  • Achieves efficiency targets.
  • Produces product to established quality standards and notifies direct supervisors of non-conforming product.
  • Participates in SQCD Board meetings as scheduled.
  • Performs quality checks per WEOP0855 and associated Inspection Record (QF08120).
  • Requests raw materials in a timely manner as needed for production and maintains accuracy of all inventory procedures.
  • Develops multiple skills for multiple cells as needed.
  • Maintains surrounding areas for cleanliness, orderliness, and organization per established 5S practices.
  • Performs and documents preventative maintenance according to released methods 100% of the time.
Requirements:
  • Basic computer knowledge desired.
  • Ability to safely and properly operate and set up various production machines.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, and blueprints.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and fill in required quality forms.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and properly use measuring devices, such as micrometers, calipers, go/no-go gages, and other inspection devices as needed.
  • High School Education or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience.
