Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a Lead CNC Machinist to join our team. This role involves the setup and operation of CNC machine tools to accurately cut and shape metal components. Additionally, manual machining tasks may be required for certain projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (Responsibilities may vary based on machine assignment)

  • Operate CNC Mills (Haas and Toshiba) and Mori Seiki lathes to manufacture precision components.
  • Program CNC machines using Mastercam software.
  • Interpret blueprints and job orders to determine specifications, tooling requirements, and operational sequences.
  • Mount, install, align, and secure tools, fixtures, and workpieces on CNC equipment.
  • Control the positioning of tools and workpieces, adjusting feeds, speeds, and cutting depths as necessary.
  • Set up fixtures or feeding devices, initiate machine operations, and engage the feed mechanism.
  • Direct coolant or cutting oil flow to tools and workpieces during machining.
  • Monitor CNC machine operations visually and audibly to ensure conformity to specifications and to identify issues such as dull tools or excessive vibration, making corrections as needed.
  • Utilize various small equipment to complete workpieces.
  • Assist and mentor junior CNC Machinists in setup procedures.
  • Employ all safety devices and tools to guarantee safe operation of CNC machines.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Complete all necessary documentation.
  • Perform minor maintenance on machines as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Propose recommendations for process improvements.
  • Provide constructive feedback to management regarding potential issues or areas for enhancement.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred; technical school diploma or relevant experience is a plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience and training is preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and adhere to specified tolerances.
  • Experience in setting up and operating CNC Mills, with programming skills required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Capable of problem-solving, data collection, and applying logical conclusions.
  • Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills are necessary.
  • Able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
