Job Summary:

SOSi is seeking a highly skilled Japanese Language Instructor to join our team. As a Japanese Language Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering proficiency-based foreign language instruction to students ranging from beginner to advanced levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Language Instruction: Deliver high-quality language instruction to students, focusing on speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
  • Lesson Development: Develop and maintain lesson plans for beginners, intermediate, and advanced classes, incorporating real-world scenarios and cultural understanding.
  • Student Assessment: Assess student proficiency and provide constructive feedback to ensure students meet their language learning goals.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with customers to understand their organization's needs and develop language training programs that meet those needs.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher in a relevant field, such as linguistics, education, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in foreign language instruction, with a focus on Japanese language instruction.
  • Language Proficiency: Native or near-native competency in Japanese language.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with language training software, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree: Master's degree in a relevant field, such as linguistics, education, or a related field.
  • Overseas Experience: Overseas experience in the target language, with a focus on teaching and cultural understanding.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Subject matter expertise in international relations, counterterrorism, economics, legal/law, military, narcotics, science & technology, literature, and cross-cultural studies.

Work Environment:

  • Travel: Travel OCONUS on a TDY basis is a requirement for some of the languages under this program.
  • Support: Candidates must be able to support the program 24/7 when on travel.
